Daniel

Were you at the airport, this morning?

A few minutes later, still no answer came. John’s car appeared at the gates as I was about to walk back in. Daisy started to push in between my legs to go out and greet him, so I picked her up and waited there, sharing her same joy on seeing him.

That night was a great night. John and I ordered our favourite takeaway, talked about pretty much everything we thought of and watched a movie we both loved. We snuggled together on the couch sharing some popcorn, his head on my side, right on my heart, where he belonged, my arm on his shoulder; I could feel him breathing at my same pace. The life we had was summed up just right there and in the immediate thereafter, when our bodies turned up the fire inside, transformed in passion in the space of a few movements.

Our hands were everywhere that mattered, frenetically increasing the speed, succumbing to the pure pursuit of desire. We ended up upstairs, on our spacious bed, as we had done many times before, proving we still had the emotional and physical spark pulsing inside. His warm body and the scent of his skin was leading me where my lips yearned to go-fast, slow and fast again. His hair brushed against my chest and my stomach, sending me into a frenzy as if I were hurtling at the speed of light toward the centre of the universe. I was his and he was mine as nothing else had happened between us. We had drifted apart and come back together, drawn by the fiery desire of our flesh, our eyes and our hearts.

Falling asleep with that certainty in my head was the best way to close a very long day, a day closing its shutter for the night, with me knowing I was back home, where I belonged.

The morning after, I was up pretty early. I left John in bed, his body conquering the entire surface, arms wide open. I gave him a quick glance before heading out for the day and everything felt safe, sweet. I carried my phone all morning, on my way to work at the coffee shop, in the office, but for some reason I wasn’t paying attention to it. During lunchtime, Harry and I talked about my trip to Italy. To make my story a little more visual, I decided to show him a few pictures I had taken on the boat. Just as I took my phone out of my pocket, a message popped up on the screensaver. It was Noah.
